About Me

I am currently the Associate Director, IT Services at the University of Auckland in New Zealand.  I am responsible for the Academic and Collaborative Technologies Group at the University, and I also teach in a large stage III research scott2methods course in the Psychology department.

I am an American ex-pat that sailed with my family in 1997 in our 32′ sailboat from San Diego through the South Pacific…and ended up in this beautiful land (see www.soundingfree.com/sailblog for our travel log).  My wife and I now live on a small island 12 kilometers from Auckland, called Waiheke Island.  We have a wonderful beachfront home in Orapiu Bay, and our sailboat (named Sounding Free) is moored out in front.

Our son Brett is mid-way through writing his Masters thesis, and is a Tutor in the Sociology department.  He comes by the office most weeks to allow me to buy him lunch.  Life is good.
